OLEDB Wait

The OLEDB Wait it usually caused by calls to a remote server waiting for the data to return from the remote server. This can occur with a linked server connection, executing a query on another server, or other methods.

To track this down and resolve it you can find the offending query in the Historic Waits Advisor and figure out why it is taking so long on the other server. Common reasons are:

  • The query is returning a huge result set.
  • The query is not written optimally and is taking a long time to run.
  • The remote server is slow or overloaded.
