This is a dangerous SQL Server setting to enable. You would think that with a name like Priority Boost that this would be the secret SQL Server turbo button, but no its not.
In most cases this will negatively impact the performance on your SQL Server and should not be enabled.
Note the following warning form Microsoft Books Online
- Raising the priority too high may drain resources from essential operating system and network functions, resulting in problems shutting down SQL Server or using other operating system tasks on the server.
