Licensing Agreement
I get a lot of questions about the Database Health Monitor licensing agreement. Hopefully this page will answer some of those questions. Or you can email us at [email protected]
November 2025 we have had some updates to the licensing costs and to the connection points.
Licensing and Server Connection Options
Database Health Monitor has evolved over the years. Initially, it was free for everyone, which was great during the Beta years while we added features and functionality. Then we went to the points model where you could get a free connection for being subscribed by my mailing list, and a few other tasks. It turned out that this model was great for a while, but not sustainable in the long run.
The product has grown over the last 14 years, and we now have full-time team members that are dedicated to the development and support of Database Health Monitor. That adds expense and therefore has made the free and the points model not sustainable.
Although we have had to get rid of the free options for Database Health Monitor, we do still offer one of the most inexpensive monitoring and maintenance solutions available for SQL Server.
When you install the program and run it for the first time you are prompted to accept the license agreement before you can run Database Health Monitor.
But what if I didn’t read it?
If you didn’t read the license agreement and you would like to see what it says, you can access the license agreement from the Help Menu as shown here:

Not very exciting, and it is subject to change in the future.
Enjoy!
